    • Between Sarlat and Bergerac, a short distance from Villeneuve-sur-Lot, Cahors and the Lot, the canton of Monpazier offers visitors many treasures. The Bastide of Monpazier (13th century): an authentic jewel of medieval architecture, considered to be the most beautiful and the model among the 300 bastides of the southwest.

In 1991, the Bastide of Monpazier, " One of the Most Beautiful Villages in France " was elevated to the rank of " Grand Site National " with Biron and Capdrot, thus preserving and showcasing this unique architectural and urban heritage. The Château de Biron is the seat of one of the 4 baronies of Périgord: all types of architecture are represented there, from the 12th century keep to the 18th century buildings, including the apartments and the Renaissance chapel. Open to the public all year round. Other attractions to discover: the 15 churches in the canton (13 of which are Romanesque), the many artists and craftsmen, the producers, the markets, the porcini mushroom market, guided tours, archaeological outings.

Beautiful city: easy to imagine yourself living hundreds of years ago. Not too touristy.
