Beaumont-en-Périgord is an English fortified town founded in 1272 by Edward I, King of England. A walk through Beaumont inevitably takes you back to the Middle Ages with its imposing fortress church, the Porte de Luziers, its fortified houses with screen walls, its narrow streets...
The Pays Beaumontois will charm you with its 100 km of hiking trails including the Amadour trail, which will take you to Saint Avit Sénieur and Cadouin, whose abbeys are listed by UNESCO as part of the Saint-Jacques de Compostelle trails, passing through Molières, the smallest fortified town in Périgord.
