      • The Pastels Girault® brand

Created in 1780, it is the oldest brand of dry pastel in the world that has remained in operation.
Located a stone's throw from the International Center for Parietal Art (Lascaux 4) , this craft is certified by the state, EPV - Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant which recognizes the excellence of French know-how. It is also certified OFG - Origine France Garantie which is today the only recognition that attests to French origin with the customs service.

Recognized as a reference in the field of fine arts!

Samples are available to test the shades, texture and quality of the product.

Compositions are organized by theme such as portrait, landscape or even parietal art!
Also organized by shades in variations of blues, greens, reds... light ones, dark ones...
And finally a large number are arranged by contemporary pastel painters.

The palettes can also be composed to measure by choosing the colors in detail.

The dry pastel sticks will be placed in cardboard cases or in wooden boxes made by a local craftsman.

      • The manufacturing is artisanal and family-run, the know-how has been passed down from generation to generation for 2 and a half centuries. Today, it is a small team of 4 people who work on this exceptional craft.

"For us, the first pastel painters are the Cro-Magnons, they used clays and pigments like us to paint on walls or stones. So it is obvious that we are located in the same town as the famous cave, in Montignac-Lascaux, at the origins of art."

And for the more curious, a window reveals part of the manufacturing on the side of the building, avenue de Lascaux

      • The art gallery

The shop is completed by a magnificent gallery space which permanently offers pastel paintings allowing some to discover the different techniques of dry pastel, others to feast their eyes or treat themselves to some art.

      • Pastel courses

To complete the experience, several introductory or advanced courses are suggested every month.
The complete and regularly updated calendar can be found on the Pastels Girault® website and is relayed in the agenda section of the Guide Du Périgord.

      Admission is free

Opening hours are Monday to Friday

I order once or twice a year. Never disappointed, fast delivery and the chalks are very well packaged. I love drawing with its pastels, it’s very soft to the touch and the result is perfect. I dream of going to visit their store.

Superb pastels, even for the beginner that I am it's a treat to use them, the result is so beautiful and the colors varied. I fell for a wooden box of 102 pastels and it's a joy to use them. thank you for these beautiful products!

I work mainly with these sticks, a very pleasant material which allows me to create fades and precision. The palette is wide and all these colors are a delight! I recommend 👌😘
