    • DOMAINE DE FAVARD IN TAMNIÈS, IN THE HEART OF THE BLACK PÉRIGORD

A family history rooted in the Périgord tradition

The Domaine de Favard, nestled in Tamniès, embodies the authenticity of the Périgord Noir, a region rich in traditions and know-how.

Since its creation almost forty years ago, this family estate has distinguished itself by its commitment to quality and craftsmanship, with a particular emphasis on the production of canned fatty ducks.

The story begins in the 1980s when Jean-Claude and Josette Valéry, owners of the farm, decided to add value to their production by developing artisanal preserves. This project, born from the desire to preserve and share ancestral culinary traditions, has been passed down from generation to generation.

The couple started the business by selecting ducks raised in accordance with local practices, guaranteeing products with authentic flavors.

In 1986, to meet the growing demand, the cannery was created, marking an important step in the evolution of the field. The fitted cooking room allows the production process to be perfected while ensuring consistent quality.

The sale under the Halle Paysanne in Les Eyzies then gave the Domaine de Favard recognition among locals and lovers of Périgord gastronomy.

      Intergenerational transmission and constant development

In the 1990s, Jean-Claude and Josette's only daughter, Karine Valéry, joined the business.

Karine's arrival marked a turning point: the creation of an SARL structured the company and consolidated its foundations. In 1999, an expansion of the laboratory was undertaken to meet standards and increase production capacity. The year 2000 was marked by the opening of a direct sales boutique, allowing visitors to discover the estate's products on site, and by participation in gastronomic fairs, such as the prestigious Paris Fermiers, where the estate obtained the distinction of Fermier d'or.

The following years saw the continuous improvement of the facilities and the renewal of recipes to better meet the tastes of visitors. In 2018, the renovation of the cannery modernized the equipment while respecting the know-how passed down for decades. In 2020, Paul Bataillon, grandson of Jean-Claude and Josette and son of Karine, joined the team with skills in catering and international trade. His dynamic and innovative vision brings new perspectives, including revisited recipes and the introduction of unique products, while preserving the family spirit of the estate.

The boutique and the flagship products of the estate

The Domaine de Favard boutique has become a must-see for lovers of local products.

It offers a wide range of foie gras, confits, rillettes, as well as ready meals, all made using traditional methods. The emphasis is on the quality of the ingredients and on preparation that respects traditional techniques. This attention to detail allows the estate to maintain high standards and build customer loyalty.

A place to stay surrounded by nature

In addition to its agricultural vocation, the Domaine de Favard offers characterful accommodation. A Périgord residence, a group gîte and a charming studio are available for an authentic stay in the Périgord Noir. These carefully designed spaces offer visitors the opportunity to reconnect with nature and enjoy a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape.

What to discover around the Domaine de Favard

Domaine de Favard is ideally located for exploring the wonders of the Périgord Noir. A few kilometres away, Les Eyzies-de-Tayac, the cradle of prehistory, is home to sites such as the National Museum of Prehistory and decorated caves. The famous Lascaux cave (International Centre for Parietal Art), located in Montignac, is a great destination for discovering prehistoric art.

The hiking trails surrounding the estate offer varied landscapes, from wooded valleys to the peaceful banks of the Vézère, where it is possible to practice canoeing. The markets of Sarlat-la-Canéda, renowned for their local products, allow you to immerse yourself in the regional gastronomic culture.

Villages such as Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère and Beynac-et-Cazenac, ranked among the most beautiful in France, add to the region's appeal. These places, rich in history and architecture, form an ideal setting for walks and cultural discoveries.
