    • Pirate Canoe, a boat trip along the water in Vézac

Embark on a 100% nature day from Vézac to the Canoë Pirate base, at the entrance to the village of La-Roque-Gageac. Easily accessible with its large free car park, it has canoes and kayaks to discover the beauty of the Périgord Noir at the rhythm of the paddle strokes. Book your descent from May to October.

Pirate Canoe, a pleasant boat trip on the Dordogne

With family, lovers or friends, you will love discovering this magnificent river in a suitable boat. Available for rental, the canoes can be used by 2, 3 or 4 people, while the kayaks are designed for individuals or duos. Listen to the advice of the Canoë Pirate team who will present the different routes from 2 to 25 km long before launching the first paddle stroke. The river, calm and safe, is accessible to children who can swim from 5 years old. Once equipped with your life jacket, all you have to do is paddle and let yourself glide. Keep your eyes open, herons or kingfishers sometimes fly over the river! Itineraries of 2 to 7 days are also offered for the more athletic who can get active on 130 km of activity, admiring the fauna and flora that evolve in total freedom.

Pirate Canoe, discovering the Périgord Noir on board a boat

A few minutes are enough for an incredible spectacle to appear before your eyes, that of the Valley of the Castles. The view is exceptional from the bottom of the river to admire the pretty perched villages of the region between Beynac, Domme or Castelnaud, while the castles strut from the top of their rocky promontory. The fauna and flora perfectly complete this natural picture which evolves throughout the walk. Once the descent is finished, a mini-bus takes you back to the base to return the equipment used. Relieved of your vest, you can go to the charming beach of Vézac to cool off in the river, before picnicking in the shade of the willows and poplars. A snack bar is also open at the Canoë Pirate base to delight your palates with gourmet and homemade meals, to be enjoyed facing the Dordogne. Plan towels, swimsuits and a snack to enjoy a pleasant day in Vézac, after a canoe trip.

The little extra? The price includes equipment, transport, insurance and the loan of a waterproof container.

Avoid, avoid, avoid. We paid for 25km trip, cut short because the operator did not have enough people to cover because of the weather. We were then told we would be refunded the difference in price, then that changed to no refund.. Despicable. I then requested to finish the remaining part of the route next day as my daughter was terribly disappointed, but this was not available, they wanted me to pay again for the next day. I generally don't write reviews, but for this outfit I'll gladly make an exception. In fairness the local staff were sympathetic to the situation but the "boss" just ruined what was to be a special day for everyone, and behaved horribly towards these customers. Avoid.

Very poor communications from start to finish. We had to wait at least 45 minutes for the coach to pick us up at the end of the trip. We had young children who were tired and hungry. No explanation was given instead we were herded into an old coach, which looked barely roadworthy. Avoid this canoe company at all costs.
