Presentation of the Auberge la Ferme du Brusquand

Located in Marquay, in the Périgord Noir , Auberge la Ferme du Brusquand offers a unique setting just 11 km from Sarlat-la-Canéda , the medieval capital of the Périgord Noir. This family farm, specialized in breeding geese and ducks for four generations, highlights the gastronomic traditions of the region through its farm products. Visitors can discover the secrets of old-fashioned force-feeding and the artisanal manufacturing of high-quality products in a friendly and warm atmosphere.

      Traditional production of foie gras

The Auberge la Ferme du Brusquand is renowned for its production of foie gras made in accordance with Périgord traditions. The geese and ducks are raised there with care, guaranteeing quality products.

Farm tours are free and allow you to observe the animals' meals while learning about production methods. Tastings of foie gras and other farm products are also offered, offering visitors a moment of sharing around the family passion for gastronomy.

      The farm’s gourmet shop

Every day, the boutique at Auberge la Ferme du Brusquand opens its doors to offer a wide range of artisanal products. Among these products, we find foie gras , confits, duck breasts, pâtés, as well as goose and duck crickets. These specialties, produced on site from animals raised and slaughtered on the farm, are available for direct sale.

It is also possible to place an order by telephone and receive the products by parcel, once payment has been accepted. Customers can enjoy traditional Périgord dishes in the comfort of their home.

      The inn's family restaurant

The restaurant at Auberge la Ferme du Brusquand welcomes its guests from April to October , with closing on Monday and Sunday evenings.

Run by Charlotte and Pierre-Louis, who took over the reins of the kitchen after their father Jean-Christophe, the restaurant offers a modern and warm setting. The menu, simple and delicious, is made from fresh products from the farm's livestock. The dishes offered highlight the flavors of Périgord Noir, such as semi-cooked foie gras in a terrine, duck breast à la plancha, Périgord cassoulet and the duo of duck breast and aiguillette.

      Welcome groups and events

The restaurant at Auberge la Ferme du Brusquand has 34 indoor seats and three terraces that can accommodate up to 110 people. Groups are happily welcomed, and for those with more than 14 people, reservations are recommended to take advantage of a special menu. Bergerac wines and a selection of wines offered by the pitcher perfectly accompany the farm's dishes. This space is ideal for family meals, private events or group meetings.

Visited for free to see the farm and hear about the operations and from previous reviews, to see how the geese are feed. unfortunately, they didn't show us how they were fed but did tell us (in French) how their farm operated. We got the opportunity to try the fois gros, which was amazing. Recommend for fluent French speakers only. we didn't eat at the restaurant so cannot comment on the restaurant/food/service.

The tour at 5pm is in French so if I didn't speak basic high school French it would have been very difficult. The garage demonstration was very interesting and worth going to see. The store is very reasonably priced. There is a free tasting included in the tour which is a nice touch. The restaurant blew my kind the four years starters in both the 18 and 26 euro menus are amazing. The duck and steak were unbelievable. And the chocolate fondant dessert was also very good. The profiteroles were okay but a huge portion. I would highly recommend both the tour and the restaurant.
