    • At the Moulin de la Rouzique, the guide retraces with you all the history of the place and the stages of paper making through the different rooms by setting in motion different mechanisms of the mill (models, paddle wheel, round shape machine...). In turn, come and activate the paddle wheel and discover a know-how by making your own sheet of paper !

The mission of the mill team is above all to make you discover the gestures related to the manufacture of handmade paper through visits, demonstrations and workshops. During the event days, visitors are also offered meetings with associations, craftsmen and enthusiasts who work on paper-related projects. At the end of your visit, observe a rich collection of watermarks, some of which date back to the Middle Ages.

This mill continues the tradition of paper made of hemp, linen and cotton fibre since the 15th century. At the end of the 19th century, Couze et Saint-Front sheltered up to 13 paper mills on only a few kilometres of the river called the Couze.

      The Mill is :
► a place of experimentation : We have equipped ourselves with a hydraulic press and a new Dutch battery in order to offer workshops and introductory courses in papermaking.
► a specialized shop :La boutique du moulin is dedicated to the world of paper and creation: range of paper from around the world and rag paper, recycled paper items (stationery, jewellery, decoration), bookshop, creative leisure equipment...

      Animations events :
      • Tracking game for children and paper workshops during school holidays.
      • Mills Day on the 3rd weekend of May
      • Heritage Day in September

Excellent tour by a very knowledgeable guide, certainly worth a visit if you are interested in the history of making of paper in this area since 1530(!). This particular mill is the only one out of 13 paper mills left, after the height of paper production in this town. The mill was restored after an initiative in the 1980's.

A faszinating look into the history of that region - and, although the guided tour was offered only in French, the young lady repeated everything for us in English as well. Thank you!
