    • Bridoire, a castle that hit the headlines!

In the heart of the Monbazillac vineyard, discover the incredible history of a castle which almost disappeared in the 20th century! Bridoire saw its construction spread from the end of the 12th century to the 19th century. Inhabited by the Foucauld family from 1806 to 1938, the castle was sold. Bridoire then became the scene of a political-media saga linked to Bokassa and gradually fell into neglect in the 1980s. 30 years of looting followed before the expropriation and repurchase of the castle by the Guyot family in 2011.

In 2012 , after major work, the castle opened its doors to the public for the first time.

Bridoire is now saved and inhabited all year round by its owners.

Today it is the liveliest site in Bergerac with its 15 furnished rooms on 3 levels and its stables with horses and mini ponies. Bridoire is also Le Château des Jeux: 100 old-fashioned and giant games for all ages indoors and in the castle park ( archery and crossbow shooting, games of skill and reflex, giant chessboard, life-size goose game, grass skis, board games, etc.).

In summer, enjoy a quick restaurant in the castle courtyard to spend the day on the site!

Activities in July and August : lively historical cuisine with making madeleines with Périgord hazelnut flour, meeting with the Princess and introduction to sword fighting with the Knight of Bridoire.

Optional: to extend the adventure, lose yourself in the labyrinths of the Mysterious Valley, two courses of challenges and enigmas in a breathtaking natural and wild setting! Duration of the course 1h30-2h / 2 courses of your choice / Closed shoes required.

For more thrills, we offer nighttime Murder escape games throughout the castle on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings in July and August.

We really enjoyed it here! My 9 year old loved all the lawn games, and we loved that there were chairs that we could move into the shade and just relax while the kids played. The castle you go through pretty quickly, there are some games inside, too, which are fun. Someone was making madelines in the kitchen and we got to try them. They included photos of the old, empty castle before restoration which we found really neat. Also loved the horses on site that you can visit, they took them out for the kids to help wash them in the afternoon, it was cute. There's ice cream and treats along with some lunch items at the small cafe.

Went here during our vacation together with friends. Mostly nicely renovated castle. Lots of games to play inside and outside. Friendly vacation workers selling cookies or dressing children up. Games are fun for all ages. Even our teenagers participated. A proper bistro with seats would be an improvement. Good picknick facilities though and there is a souvenir shop.

Brilliant. The chateau was amazing and the cafe was great. All local produce. Had a 16month with us. The games in the gardens were fantastic and we could of stayed there all day. Only thing was that we didn't understand the tour around the chateau as we can't speak French.. but oh well maybe learn French and come back next year?
