    • CASTELWOOD, VILLAGE OF LODGES AND SAFARI TENTS, IN THE HEART OF THE BIRON FOREST, IN THE PURPLE PÉRIGORD

A haven of peace in the heart of nature

Castelwood is an estate located in Biron, in the heart of the Périgord Pourpre, and in the immediate vicinity of the Lot-et-Garonne. Nestled in the middle of a dense forest, this village of gîtes offers an ideal setting for those looking to recharge their batteries in contact with nature. Castelwood stands out for its commitment to ecological and sustainable tourism. Each accommodation has been designed to integrate harmoniously into the environment, limiting the impact on local flora and fauna. Whether for a stay as a couple, with family or friends, Castelwood offers a variety of accommodations that meet all desires for a change of scenery.

      Varied and comfortable accommodation

Castelwood offers several types of accommodation that allow you to fully enjoy nature while enjoying optimal comfort. Among these accommodations, the wooden chalets are particularly popular. Designed to accommodate 4 to 6 people, these chalets offer a warm and well-equipped living space. Each chalet has a modern and fully equipped kitchen, with dishwasher and oven, a private terrace where you can eat outdoors, and comfortable bedrooms, ideal for resting after a day of discovery. The surrounding natural setting and the immediate proximity of the forest create a peaceful atmosphere, conducive to relaxation and rejuvenation.

Castelwood 's safari tents offer a unique experience, combining adventure and comfort. Perched several meters above the ground, they allow you to fully immerse yourself in nature, while enjoying spacious and well-appointed accommodation. The tents have real beds, private bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. With their canvas walls, they allow you to listen to the sounds of the forest and feel in harmony with the natural environment. These tents can accommodate up to 6 people, making them an ideal option for families or groups of friends looking for an unusual and exotic stay.

For those looking for a little more luxury and comfort, Castelwood also offers high-end lodges with private SPA. These accommodations, designed for 4 people, are perfect for a stay in complete privacy, offering an ideal setting to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. The lodges have a large terrace and a private garden, guaranteeing absolute tranquility and no overlooked views. The private SPA is the major asset of these lodges, allowing you to relax at 36°C under the stars, for a unique and revitalizing relaxing experience.

      A strong ecological commitment

One of the most remarkable aspects of Castelwood is its commitment to ecology and environmental preservation. The accommodations are designed with sustainable materials, and the entire estate is organized in such a way as to limit its impact on the surrounding nature. The chalets and tents are made from responsibly sourced wood, and each infrastructure is designed to blend into the landscape without disturbing the ecological balance of the area.

Castelwood’s eco-friendly practices are reflected in every aspect of the estate’s management. Taps and showers are equipped with water-saving devices, and guests are encouraged to sort their waste and adopt environmentally friendly actions during their stay. This respect for nature is also reflected in the estate’s layout, where local wildlife, such as squirrels and birds, are preserved and protected. This eco-friendly approach allows visitors to enjoy a sustainable tourism experience, while contributing to the preservation of local biodiversity.

      Activities for all tastes

Castelwood does not only offer quality accommodation; the estate also offers a range of activities to enhance the stay of its visitors. From the opening of the season, at the beginning of April, the heated swimming pool is available to holidaymakers. Covered by a retractable dome, the pool allows swimming whatever the weather, thus offering a moment of relaxation appreciated by young and old. When the weather permits, the dome is removed, transforming the pool into an open space where you can enjoy the sun and fresh air.

In addition to the swimming pool, Castelwood offers its guests a barbecue area, a pétanque court, and play areas for children, such as a ping-pong table and table football. These facilities allow you to spend friendly moments with family or friends, in a natural and peaceful setting.

Discover the treasures of Périgord Pourpre and Lot-et-Garonne

The Castelwood estate is ideally located for exploring the riches of the Périgord Pourpre and Lot-et-Garonne. Less than 30 km from Biron, many activities and sites of interest await visitors. Hiking enthusiasts can explore the marked trails that cross the forests, valleys and limestone plateaus of the region, offering spectacular panoramic views.

Biron Castle, a listed historical monument, is one of the jewels of local heritage. It stands proudly above the forest and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area. This medieval castle is a must-see for history and architecture lovers, who can discover its richly decorated rooms and gardens.

Local markets, such as those in Monpazier and Villeréal, are also not to be missed. They allow you to taste local products, such as truffles, foie gras, or even Bergerac wines. These markets are also an opportunity to meet local producers, who passionately share their know-how and products. For an even more complete immersion in Périgord gastronomy, visitors can visit the region's small producers, who offer tastings and tours of their farms.

For those who prefer outdoor activities, the region also offers opportunities for canoe trips on the Dordogne or the Lot, mountain bike trails, and horse riding. The varied landscapes and natural wealth of the region make the Périgord Pourpre an ideal playground for lovers of the outdoors and discovery.

By staying at Castelwood, visitors have the opportunity to experience a relaxing and enriching holiday, in a preserved natural setting and in contact with a region with an exceptional cultural and gastronomic heritage. This estate is the perfect place to discover the charms of the Périgord Pourpre while enjoying comfortable and environmentally friendly accommodation.

We had a wonderful stay at one of the lodges (La Hulotte). It is peaceful, quiet and great value. The owners are friendly and bake fresh bread every day. The lodge was equiped with a few luxury's (dishwasher, oven, etc.). Great location with beautiful scenery. 100% recommend. 👌♥️

Great holiday park. Really good cabins all fully equipped and a nice terrace. Great owners/management who couldn't do too much to make our stay as good as possible. Lovely pool and kids loved the playground as well as the art class and dinner evening....

Looks brand-new, very clean and oh so quiet! The house is furnished with basic Ikea stuff, but you have all you need! If you are not looking for extreme luxury rain showers, cabin whirlpool and so on, but for basics in a peaceful environment, this is your place! Only downside : hordes of annoying little flies coming out of the bush like little stuka airplanes, buzzing around your ears and eyes with the perseverance of members of the luftwaffe, determined to make your life a living hell... Thank God somehow they do not follow you on the porch or inside, so you can relax outside (but stay on your porch!) Of course, the management is not to blame for that! They help you to have a nice stay!
