    • L'Escapade des Sens is not just a restaurant.

In 2020, during the covid-19 shutdown, they took time to develop a few products that are close to their hearts:

      The bees

L'Escapade des Sens has about fifteen beehives installed in the town of Thiviers and Nantheuil, they produce spring honey, acacia honey and summer honey. They use a large quantity of it in their recipes to replace white sugar and in many sauces. It also serves as an accompaniment to their cheese plate.

You can also find it in their window at the entrance to the restaurant. Ideal for your gourmet boxes to offer or to treat yourself.

      Their truffle ore

The Périgord, the cradle of the black truffle, is the perfect place to create a truffle farm. They decided to create their truffle farm near the restaurant, it is an investment for the future, they hope in a few years to be able to introduce their customers to digging and tasting their own truffles.

To do this, they planted more than 500 truffle trees on suitable land: holm oak, downy oak, cherry oak, hornbeam, pine, etc.

Irrigation , truffle wells, pruning, seeding, they are doing everything they can to hope for production in a few years.

      Their aromatic garden

Committed to the freshness of their products, they have developed a range of aromatic herbs in their various gardens. This allows them to add a touch of freshness to our plates at the last minute. Lemon thyme, sage, verbena, basil, bay leaf, dill, fennel, lovage … more than 40 different varieties cross paths throughout the year in their

      Their walnut oil

Each year, they harvest several hundred kilos of walnuts from open-field walnut trees. After drying and de-nutting by us, the kernels are taken to the Moulin de Landry in Chanterac to make their walnut oil.

Their Pâtés from the Escapade des Sens

They have made several types of pâtés available all year round in their window at the entrance to their restaurant:

      • Rabbit pâté with tarragon and Espelette pepper
      • Duck foie gras pâté with at least 40% foie gras wrapped in a thin layer of pâté flesh.
      • Duck rillettes

Country pâté with Périgord porcini mushrooms of course!

Jams made by Escapade des Sens

Every year, they make jams with ripe, seasonal fruits, depending on the seasons and available fruit, not too much sugar, lots of flavor and some surprising combinations that will delight you.

Another delightful lunch by Chef Nicolas Cousinou. I had the revisited boneless pig trotter, then the beef fillet cooked to perfection, one of the best I have ever had and I finished with the lemon tart. We are so lucky to have such a great restaurant nearby. Still 5* A must ! A feast for the eyes and a culinary delight as usual. We had the foie gras and the sautéed veal, with the recommended white and red by the maître. Splendid atmosphere, impeccable service. Will of course go back! This is always a delight. Nicolas Cousinou takes cuisine to new heights and never disappoints. I was impressed by the duck and pig trotters starter, an amazing combination. We will of course be back!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! One of the best meals I've had in France - from the excellent, non-intrusive service to the most delicious food. We chose the 3 course menu with ample choices available for entrée, plat principal and dessert. Apart from the exquisite dishes, beautifully presented, the service was well-paced with tasty appetizers on the house served in between courses. This is a restaurant, situated in a lovingly restored building with a large terrace, I will frequent from now on! I also bought some 'huile de noix' and 'miel' (honey) from their store which show-cased an array of products prepared by the restaurant. À L'escapade des sens : merci beaucoup !
