    • CANOE RELAXATION: CANOE RENTAL ON THE DORDOGNE RIVER

A canoeing experience on the Dordogne

Canoë Détente, located in Saint Vincent de Cosse on the banks of the Dordogne River, offers canoe rentals to explore the Périgord Noir. This activity is ideal for outings with family or friends, offering an original way to discover the castles and picturesque villages of the region, some of which are classified among the most beautiful villages in France. The Dordogne, with its peaceful waters and enchanting landscapes, is the perfect setting for a canoe trip.

      Courses suitable for all levels

The Canoë Détente establishment offers three different circuits to suit everyone's desires. The 3 Châteaux circuit starts in Vézac and extends over 7 km, allowing you to discover the Château de Fayrac, the Château de Beynac and the Château des Milandes. This route is ideal for those looking for a short and accessible outing, lasting 1 to 2 hours.

For a slightly longer excursion, the 6 Châteaux circuit offers a 14 km route from La Roque Gageac, passing through emblematic sites such as the Pendoilles cliffs, the Château de la Malartrie, the Château de Castelnaud, and the Château de Marqueyssac. This journey, lasting 2 to 3 hours, allows you to appreciate the diversity of the Périgord landscapes.

Finally, for those who like to explore for longer, the 7 Châteaux circuit starts from Carsac and extends over 28 km, with an estimated duration of between 4 and 5 hours. This route includes breathtaking views of the Château de Montfort, the bastide of Domme, and other remarkable sites of the Périgord Noir.

Equipment and services for a comfortable outing

All Canoë Détente courses include complete equipment for a safe outing: canoes with backrests, life jackets, paddles, as well as free waterproof containers to protect personal belongings. Departure is by bus from the base located at Port d'Enveaux, with a return by canoe to the starting point. The establishment also offers on-site amenities, such as shaded parking, toilets, showers, and a picnic area with children's games, ensuring a pleasant day for the whole family.

A setting just like you dream of for a relaxing break

In addition to canoe rental, Canoë Détente provides a restaurant-bar-brasserie, guest rooms and a beach equipped for relaxing after the canoe trip.

The beach, well maintained and partially shaded, offers a space suitable for swimming (unsupervised) and relaxing by the river. This natural setting, combined with the on-site facilities, makes Canoë Détente an ideal place to spend a full day outdoors, combining discovery and relaxation.

To discover in the surrounding area: nature, heritage and local flavors

Around Saint Vincent de Cosse, within a radius of 30 km, the Périgord Noir is full of treasures to discover. Hiking enthusiasts can explore varied trails, including those leading to the hanging gardens of Marqueyssac or around the cliffs of the Dordogne, offering spectacular views of the valley.

The architectural heritage is also rich, with must-see sites such as the Château de Castelnaud , the Château de Beynac and the medieval village of Domme. These places full of history transport visitors to medieval times and allow them to understand the strategic importance of the Dordogne valley.

For food lovers, the local markets of Sarlat and Saint Cyprien are unmissable places to discover local products, such as foie gras, truffles and walnuts. Many small producers open their doors for tastings, allowing an immersion in the culinary traditions of Périgord.

The Périgord Noir is therefore a privileged place to combine sport, culture and gourmet pleasures, all in an exceptional natural setting.

Great for all ages. Grab a canoe for 2 and paddle down the Dordogne, helped by the current, and look out for castles. Water was generally around a couple of meters deep and much of it less than a meter. 14km may sound a lot but with stop offs, 3 hours flies by. Detente had all the kit. Park up and they take you to the start of your epic journey!!

Incredibly friendly staff, very accommodating and flexible. You will have to pay in cash, as there’s no pin machine. Great canoes and taxi service to the upstream drop off points are swift. The 28km tour is absolutely brilliant, very dramatic scenery at the start, gorgeous views on the riverbanks and castles along the way. Definitely one of the best ways to explore the Dordogne river. The 28 km tour including picnicks and stops along the way for ice cream, drinks and shopping takes about 5-6 hours, most of which are easy paddling, no dangerous waters in sight, great experience for everyone.

Excellent. They picked us up from our campsite and dropped us off upstream. 3 hours and one picnic later we got back to base and they drove us back to the campsite. The river is beautiful, quite shallow in many areas and very easy to navigate. Lots of wildlife, chateaux, gorgeous villages.
