    •  " I have two loves ... My country and Paris… ". Who has never listened to or hummed this beautiful song by Joséphine Baker? A residence built in the 15th century by the Lords of Caumont, the Château des Milandes was the third love of this great lady of the 20th century for more than thirty years.

Discover the exciting and vibrant life of Joséphine Baker, an accomplished and recognized Music Hall artist but also a committed and courageous woman during the Second World War. Stroll through the fifteen rooms of the castle to the rhythm of the artist's commitments.

The Château des Milandes is also a Remarkable Garden. Stroll along the paths of the French garden, the water games will follow your progress in discovering this green theater and will lead you to the landscaped park below. Immerse yourself in the heart of our exotic bird aviaries by opening the door to our immersion aviary, open every day and for everyone. Change of scenery guaranteed!

Another particularity of the Château des Milandes: its presentation of birds of prey! The history of falconry is told to you while admiring different species of diurnal and nocturnal birds of prey. You will appreciate the proximity with our birds!

Les Milandes is also full of family activities! Workshops and activities for young and old allow everyone to immerse themselves in several worlds. Joséphine Baker loved to give, transmit and receive and it is quite natural that the Château des Milandes follows her convictions through its activities.

Before, during or after the discovery of this beautiful universe, the brewery is there to welcome you from March 24 to November 11, 2024 and during the Christmas holidays. From lunch to snacks and refreshments, come and enjoy our terrace with a view of the castle. Snack in summer, food truck from April to early November.

So don't wait any longer, enter the doors of the Château des Milandes and immerse yourself in the heart of an extraordinary place!

We enjoyed our visit to this pretty unique Chateau. Unlike a recent reviewer, who saw overcrowding and falsehood-(Thousands!!...where?) What we saw was an ancient chateau, built and rebuilt-in keeping with its history and the story of the region. (A very well put response too😉) This history is self evident, however it is also expertly told, via an included device, in multiple languages. Another big plus point is the remarkable story of Josephine Baker, most likely unknown to many non-French visitors. An eye-opening experience and highly recommended! Although we have had a home not too far from the Chateau for some years, this was actually our first visit, I'm pretty sure we will return, and with other family members. Highlight the age/authenticity v practicality, preservation and cost of historic buildings, our own humble house incorporates a number of developing features over its pretty puny 250 years, the Chateau is almost three times this age! It's pretty simple really! The story of the little church is also an interesting aside. The gardens and water festures are excellent and worth a visit in their own right, and we also enjoyed the food in the brasserie. Well done, to the family owners and congratulations.

Well worth a visit to fully understand the history of Chateau Milandes. The Chateau has a very interesting history prior to Josephine Baker. The Chateau has a fantastic English or French self guided audio tour with many many interesting artifacts. The garden are very well laid out and maintained. One thing not too be missed "Le spectacle de Rapaces" The bird of prey display is delivered by the passionate falconry team. Highly recommended.

One of the worst castles I have ever seen and been. The queue is very long but they give you the option to complete a long online form, so you can skip the long queue but you will spend at least 10 min filling the form. Something very unusual for these Days. The garden is very ok, and looks stunning in the pictures or videos but the castle itself is not good. The architecture inside is not unique and it looks a fake copy of everything. A mix of bad taste. The staff is very unprepared, and you aren’t allowed to take pictures inside. I got the conclusion that is a marketing strategy for curious people like me, because if I had the opportunity to see before i wouldn’t spend money going there. They don’t divide people in slots so literally you share your walking with hundreds or thousands. It’s very packed and I would consider a tourist trap. If you Can don’t not go. I definitely NOT recommend this castle.
