    • LE CLOS 1855, AN ENCHANTED PARENTHESIS IN THE HEART OF PériGORD

      An enchanting setting

Le Clos 1855, located in Val de Louyre and Caudeau, is at the crossroads of Périgord Noir, Périgord Pourpre and Périgord Blanc. This old Périgord farm, built almost two centuries ago, is nestled in the heart of a forest of oaks and chestnut trees. The establishment offers a unique and soothing living environment, ideal for a stay dedicated to relaxation and the discovery of nature.

      Comfortable and elegant rooms

The old outbuildings of Clos 1855 have been transformed into five guest rooms where modern comfort and traditional charm combine harmoniously. Each room has a 160 cm bed, quality bedding and a desk area. The refined decoration, designed in a “So-chic” spirit, offers a soothing atmosphere.

The rooms are air-conditioned and equipped with high-speed WiFi via Starlink, as well as smart TVs.

Each bedroom has an adjoining bathroom with separate toilet, ensuring complete privacy and a restful night's sleep.

      A gourmet and balanced breakfast

Breakfast at Clos 1855 is a special moment.

Made from organic and local products, it is served from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., on the terrace by the pool or indoors depending on the weather.

Diners can enjoy artisan bread baked in an old oven, mini pastries, local jams and honey, seasonal strawberries, as well as cottage cheese with granola, yogurt, and scrambled eggs.

This balanced and tasty meal is an opportunity to start the day right.

A table d'hôtes and local specialties

In the evening, Le Clos 1855 offers a table d'hôte with daily specials prepared with rigorously selected local products from sustainable agriculture.

Guests can also enjoy artisanal recipes in jars from “ Le Petit Boc du Périgord ”.

The home cooking of course includes local specialties such as Périgord salad, homemade semi-cooked foie gras or duck confit. But Lola also likes to offer creative, fresh and gourmet cuisine based on seasonal market garden products.

Meals can be enjoyed on the covered terrace next to the large lime tree or by the fire in the dining room in case of bad weather.

      Outdoor spaces dedicated to relaxation

The outdoor spaces of Clos 1855 are designed to promote well-being and calm. The garden, bordered by a large meadow and a forest, is a true green setting. Guests can stroll among the tall oak trees, relax in the shade of the century-old linden tree or simply enjoy the surrounding nature. The salt swimming pool, heated from May to September, is surrounded by deckchairs and armchairs for moments of total relaxation. The two lounges, the small and the large, offer convivial spaces where guests can relax, play board games or enjoy a hot drink.

      Discover the surroundings

Less than 30 kilometers from Clos 1855, visitors can explore a variety of sites and activities. The area is ideal for hiking, with marked trails through picturesque landscapes.

The local markets are another must-see attraction. The towns of Sarlat (Wednesday and Saturday), Périgueux (Saturday morning) and Bergerac (Wednesday morning) offer weekly markets where you can discover fresh and artisanal products, ranging from seasonal fruits and vegetables to cheeses and charcuterie local.

Within a 30 km radius around Val de Louyre and Caudeau, nature and history lovers will find numerous sites of interest :

      • Bergerac : About 25 km away, this historic town is known for its wines and its well-preserved medieval center
      • Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil : Located approximately 30 km away, this village is considered the world capital of prehistory, with its National Museum of Prehistory
      • Domme : About 30 km away, this perched village offers a panoramic view of the Dordogne valley
      • Sarlat-la-Canéda : About 35 km away, this exceptionally well-preserved medieval town is a must-see in the region
      • Lascaux Caves : Although located 46 km away, these famous prehistoric caves are worth the detour

Small local producers, such as farms offering tastings of foie gras, truffles and Périgord wines, also allow you to discover the gastronomic riches of the region.

In short, Clos 1855 is an ideal place to recharge your batteries, discover the surrounding nature and savor the delights of Périgord. Whether for a romantic stay, a getaway with friends or a family vacation, this haven of peace offers everything you need for moments of relaxation and discovery.

A parenthesis outside of time and outside of frameworks We enjoyed a short week at Clos 1855 at the end of June 2024. As soon as we pass the gate, a subtle mixture of charm and tranquility invades us. We are immediately welcomed by Pierre-Marc, with a smile on his face in the interior courtyard (we will quickly see that living in this Clos provides quite contagious happiness!). Pierre-Marc introduces us to the places; we discover with wonder our Murier room. Elegance, design, sobriety and refinement combine harmoniously. The authenticity of old Périgord stones subtly blends with a modern and refined design. The facilities are complete and everything is designed in a very ergonomic way (note in passing the toilet separated from the bathroom, which is not always the case) A quick glance at the common living room, also very well decorated and furnished, convinces us; books, board games, infusions and coffee are available for vacationers. We then discover the different terraces of the property on different levels. Everyone tries to compete with each other in an unparalleled battle of charm! Will we only have the opportunity to enjoy each of them at least once? We take a few steps towards the garden, the swimming pool is revealed, also perfectly inscribed in the setting, with very neat surroundings! Lola joins us, just as smiling as Pierre-Marc, to welcome us and complete the presentation of the place. Our hosts offer us an aperitif in their company, under the covered terrace with a view of the garden and the swimming pool (which we happily accept!) They then invite us to share their meal, detailing the day's menu (starter, main course and dessert!), which leaves no room for reflection; We will therefore also have the pleasure of enjoying an excellent dinner to get to know each other better! After an excellent evening and a very good night's sleep, it's time for a late breakfast! the latter deserves a separate review on its own! or more precisely, the latter, because every morning, Lola and Pierre-Marc offer us different sweet and savory pleasures! One of Lola's specialties being eggs (from Partridge), these are available in different presentations every morning, a real treat! We will remember: - Accommodation of unprecedented and unparalleled quality, charm and refinement - Hosts of remarkable sympathy and availability, taking great care of us without ever being intrusive - A unique and rejuvenating place - A desire to go back!

We returned from this magnificent region of Dordogne in the heart of Périgord for the weekend of August 15 where we were able to discover a timeless place. Le Clos 1855 the biggest number a guest house can do for you!! We were welcomed, in this charming stopover, with real sincerity by Lola and Pierre-Marc, our hosts on this road which was once the path of the stagecoach. The refined decor of this place seduced us immediately, we walked through the door and immediately felt at home. Each room, which has incredible comfort, has its own entrance allowing us to be immediately at ease. Pierre-Marc built a common room whose structure was made entirely of wood where we can meet outside the rooms, to drink coffee, have tea, read on deep and welcoming sofas or play a board game with friends or family in a calming and friendly environment. The salt pool, heated between 28° and 29°, is very well exposed throughout the day and is incredibly clean. The highlight of the show is the breakfasts included in the price of the rooms, made by his charming wife: the smiling and exquisite Lola, who changes it every day by varying our pleasures and our desires, with eggs as a base. 🥚, whipped cream and these multiple flavors, the various fruits with the croissants 🥐, raisin breads and chocolate breads cooked and made on site by Pierre-Marc. Finally, we advise you to dine there, don't go racking your brains to find a restaurant, let yourself be carried away by the magic of the place with a menu for €28.00: starter, main courses and dessert made with imagination and talent in the same way by Lola who suggested a menu but will never stop listening to you. A festival! Washed down with a little Bordeaux: white, rosé or red selected by Pierre-Marc. Let yourself be carried away, it was magical, we were nostalgic to leave them because their joy of living was an infusion of happiness, their kindness, the attention they gave us also led us to meet a Belgian couple who were also staying there and who extended their stay in this haven of peace, which we will most certainly see again. We highly recommend this farmhouse restored with so much passion and taste since they had fun giving us pleasure. Go in with your head down, you will have no regrets... We will come back for sure.
