    • The region of Sainte-Alvère, historic stronghold of the Lostanges, constitutes the western tip of Périgord Noir. It is a very hilly region whose most limestone hillsides are the domain of truffles. Until the 1960s, the region was a major producer of truffles. For almost 30 years, the Sainte-Alvère market has offered numerous buyers quality truffles controlled by quality commissioners.

In order to promote this rich heritage, an interpretive trail, accompanied by a permanent exhibition at the Sainte-Alvère tourist office, has been created and introduces the general public to the discovery of the “black diamond”.

With a pleasant surprise, I was able to discover the cultural hall of Cendrieux during the broadcast of “Florencia en el amazonas” live from the Metropolitan Opera. The building is undoubtedly a beautiful and surprising achievement in this charming little village of Cendrieux. Perhaps a little oversized even if it is intercommunity... But in the end we can be pleased to see such a cultural effort. On the other hand, I find it lamentable to have to suffer from such a malfunction of the broadcast equipment which deprived us of the end of the work, nothing less! This is all the more regrettable as it seems, it is the third and even breakdown which ruins our passion for opera. In these conditions, it is not serious and even less honest to see the organizers except the volunteers and those in charge demanding €50 for a couple while putting on such a poor show! We were not even comforted by a tasty dinner intermission around a buffet of peasant products, the food was infamous and not very local. But never mind! Here again it was a fiasco, nay, a mockery! Unless the decision-makers receive a better pittance? I sincerely wish them... Two final suggestions: prefer a reduction for the next broadcast to the offer of a glass of champagne which is not serious and dangerous on our small country roads and finally enlist the collaboration of a qualified technician who can ensure the proper functioning of such specific equipment. In short, give yourself the means without abusing those of the spectators.
