On the banks of the Loue, between Isle and Auvézère on the old iron road between Saint Yrieix la Perche and Périgueux, come and stroll through the streets of Excideuil, this medieval city at least 1500 years old.

It has known the greatest troubadours of their time, such as Giraut de Bornelh, or Bertrand de Born, poet-knight, adversary of Richard the Lionheart and sad character of the Divine Comedy. Lovers of gentle roaming will be delighted to discover Excideuil via the Fow Vélo, a 400 km cycle route which links Sarlat to the island of Aix, or via the Laurence d'Arabie route in the footsteps of Richard the Lionheart, between Castillon la Bataille in Gironde and Chalus in Haute Vienne.

The traditional market takes place every Thursday mornings, prize-winning fat and truffle markets in winter.
