COGNAC AND WINE MUSEUM
The still presented in "Le CHAI", the COGNAC and WINE Museum of Saint-Aulaye, is an exceptional still dating from the 18th century. The twin screw press from the same era is just as magnificent. Over the course of a chronological journey, the visitor discovers the spirit and the know-how of the distiller, the cellar master, the winegrower and the cooper.
"Le CHAI" is a temple where pious relics and objects of a true world cult are kept, brought to the one we can rightly name "The Son of Art and the Sun" : COGNAC. The Cellar Master proceeds to learned "blends" from different COGNACS in order to develop a very large COGNAC. During its aging in barrels, COGNAC evaporates in significant proportions; it's "La part des Anges"...
PASTEL MUSEUM
The Pastel Museum makes visitors discover a permanent exhibition made up of paintings acquired by the municipality, a temporary exhibition (information : 05 53 90 81 33/06 81 19 90 34) from French and foreign artists and reproductions of works by world famous artists. A film projection on the making of Girault pastels is also available.
