    • LAUGERIE-BASSE: EXPERIENCE THE HISTORY OF MEN

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Laugerie-Basse Prehistoric Shelters are an exceptional testimony to human life during the Magdalenian period. These rock shelters, used by our ancestors, served as both shelters and living spaces. Discovered during major archaeological excavations in the 19th century, they have become an essential reference for prehistorians around the world.

      • Cro-Magnon Workshop: For families, the “Cro-Magnon” workshop is a fun experience that allows children to learn about prehistoric life. Explore the objects that men used in the past and learn how to design a prehistoric tent with a facilitator!

It's not the most impressive site (visually) in the valley, but we were lucky to come across a great guide: a real enthusiast who knew his subject perfectly and who knew how to make the guided tour super interesting. Thanks to him.

In Dordogne I don't have a network anywhere and I'm just coming out of the visit so I might as well strike the iron while it stays hot. The comments left did not leave me dreaming of the place, fearing a simpleton trap. Well that's not the case at all and it's a wonderful visit if you take the time for the guided tour! Moreover, we took the tour with Benjamin, a very fun and sunny guide focused on the practicality of this emblematic place then just after we joined for a second tour with Laurent, and his incredible and fascinating knowledge of the places and the History, passion runs through this simply brilliant guide. The 3D movie is great. Honestly, well done, you deserve extra stars given the ones you put in my eyes in any case!

Thank you to the lovely staff who made this such a great place to visit. Going anywhere with three young children can be difficult, but staff showed patients and engaged our 3 and 4 year old.

The site was a shelter used by cro magnon humans for a long period of time. The site itself is picturesque and worth stopping by if you are going past, but not worth driving out of your way for...
