    • TWO CASTLES, ONE GREAT HISTORY

Built on a rocky spur, the Château de Bourdeilles brings together two exceptional buildings. A 13th century medieval fortress flanked by an impressive 32-metre high keep and an elegant Renaissance residence housing one of the richest collections of furniture in Aquitaine. During the holidays, children can explore the castle accompanied by their book of puzzles that will be offered to them. During the dramatised night tours, explore the castle like privileged guests in a warm, humorous and unusual atmosphere.

Great access, including the Wine Cave in the basements. Visitors are free to roam with handheld electronic guides in many languages. The Castle is great to see and get good access to the structures, with a few furnished rooms. The later Palace alongside is well furnished and gives an impression of priveleged life in ancient times. Good views from the ramperts over the village and to the river below. English spoken at reception.

Well worth a visit, no photos allowed to ne taken inside hence you won't find many online but don't let it put you off. We enjoyed it so much we bought the book to read up and remind us of our day. Situated in a pretty village with cafes & restaurants.
