Unique for its oriental plan with a Greek cross similar to St. Mark's in Venice, the center and each branch of which are topped by a dome. Restored in the 19th century by Abadie who used it as a model for the construction of the Sacré-Cœur in Montmartre.

The 12th century bell tower separates the old Latin church from the Byzantine-inspired basilica. Inside, a magnificent Baroque altarpiece and the chandelier which saw the marriage of Napoleon III to Eugénie de Montjo at Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral.

The cathedral can be visited with free access every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (7 p.m. in summer) , a paid tour support is offered inside. It is also possible to visit it with a guide-lecturer , as part of guided group tours or urban walks offered by the Grand Périgueux Tourist Office , throughout the year by reservation.

Wow stunning! Walked past the cathedral and heard an organ playing. Went inside and was taken back by the amazing views.

Beautiful building which is the focal point for much of the city. They did have English information pamphlets but they were quite short. If you want to know more I would recommend using Google Lens to translate the French signs as they are much more informative. One last thing to mention is that the wooden sculpture can be illuminated by putting in some money at the side. This took us 20 minutes to realise.
