    • La Métairie, 4-star boutique hotel in Périgord Noir, near Limeuil

It is in a magnificent setting, in a little paradise , that the luxury Hotel Restaurant is located, which offers 10 refined and elegant rooms , including two suites.

Located not far from the Dordogne, which flows peacefully, winding languorously between the wooded hills ( the Cingle de Trémolat is a few minutes away), this magnificent 3 hectare estate is home to a cozy 19th century residence. A mix of tradition and modernity, tastefully decorated for an immediate feeling of tranquility, it is the sweetness of life that emanates from this completely renovated old farm. It has retained all its charm with exposed stones and beams, the refreshing freshness of the stones in summer and a warm atmosphere within its walls.

The Tradition Rooms at the Hôtel La Métairie all have a different decoration, they are approximately 18m2 but have comfort, modernity, beautiful furniture and comfortable bedding in common. You can stay half-board at the Hôtel Restaurant La Métairie, a good idea to relax and enjoy a delicious meal on site. The Prestige Rooms, approximately 24 m2, offer a view of the estate park and the surrounding countryside, they are equipped with air conditioning for your comfort in the summer season.

Two suites are available: one very large and one smaller (the Junior), they have a separate living room and are ideal for a family stay.

All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, WIFI, private bathroom and television.

La Métairie is also a gastronomic quality restaurant. Settle into the sumptuous interior room, authentic and sophisticated at the same time, all in stone and completed by a terrace bathed in light, like in a marvelous garden in the middle of the vegetation. Porcini mushrooms, foie gras, confits, truffles and other delights are on the restaurant's menu (reservation recommended) where the wine list honors the flavor of the dishes composed by the Chef.

The rooms and Suites are located in the house, near which is a sumptuous swimming pool, bordered by the wooded and flowered park. You are in an idyllic setting, sit on the deckchairs, take the time to enjoy a moment of relaxation before or after visits to the region, teeming with cultural and leisure activities.

La Métairie is ideally located for exploring the treasures of Périgord . Here you are in a golden triangle between Périgueux, Bergerac and Sarlat. With family or friends, you will explore the nearby Vézère Valley, from the confluence with the Dordogne river in Limeuil, you can go up towards Le Bugue, Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère, up to Montignac (Les Grottes de Lascaux), Terrasson, to enjoy the attractions of cultural tourist sites around prehistory. The Dordogne Valley is also easily accessible, with its visits to Castles, Gardens and of course the beauty of the natural environment: hiking, mountain biking (bikes can be loaned to you free of charge on request), canoe kayaking, walk on the waters in Gabarre and visits to charming villages such as Roque Gageac, Beynac, Castlenaud, Domme... Le Bergeracois welcomes you for wine tourism visits and the discovery of the town of Cyrano, while the Périgord Blanc and its Capital Périgueux welcome you reserves gastronomic surprises and the discovery of the ancient center of this beautiful country town.

Charming chateau in the French countryside but not without some quirks. This is undoubtedly a stunning property with a large lawn and pool area. The bar and dining room have old world charm with views of the grounds. Staff were helpful and kind. Our room was clean and nicely decorated but a bit tight once luggage is opened (maybe a larger room size would avoid this). Bed is tucked into an alcove with just enough space to access the bed. The wall mounted toilet was the highest toilet I have ever experienced and it was a bit awkward and uncomfortable to use. We had 1 dinner here and it was good, nothing original or exceptional, but a nice meal. Service was very formal and felt laboured. Maybe the effort to come across as “high end” might be better spent in other areas (perhaps people like this?). We had a problem with a large amount of water in our room and had to move rooms late in the evening. This was dealt with immediately and our clothes were taken to be dried. However, the owner had to leave the kitchen to come and deal with the issue and no one had answered the phone when we initially called down to report the problem. The owner helped us move but we basically had to schlep our unpacked items down stairs and in the rain. It was a bit stressful. I wondered what would have happened if it had been the middle of the night. Overall a beautiful place with lots to offer. But it doesn’t feel effortlessly maintained and as a guest it is more relaxing when it appears effortless.

This is our absolutely favourite hotel. It's perfect! It's small, beautifully furnished and in a wonderful, quiet location surrounded by fields and woodland. The staff are amazing, always to hand to help or provide guests with anything they might want. A beautiful, tasteful terrace overlooking the garden provides a perfect location for a leisurely breakfast and/or a delicious dinner. Good wine selection too. Comfortable, spotlessly clean bedrooms. Big fluffy white dressingowns and slippers are provided as well as swimming towels by the pool. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. An incredible place to unwind, relax and enjoy the best that France has to offer - wonderful food, wine and hospitality.
