      THE HISTORY OF MAISONNEUVE CAMPSITE

      A Family Heritage Since 1920

Rooted in the history of Périgord Noir, Camping Maisonneuve is much more than just a vacation spot. Founded in 1956 by Joe and Marguerite DEJEAN, this campsite has its roots in a small farm purchased by their great-grandfather Jean Baptiste DEJEAN in 1920.

Since then, each generation has helped shape this charming place, combining tradition and modernity.

      1956 - Transformation into a campsite

The year 1956 marked a decisive turning point in the history of Maisonneuve. Joe and Marguerite decide to transform the family farm into a campsite . Marguerite, a secretary by training, devotes herself to administrative management while Joe, a farmer and handyman, supervises the technical and external part. Little by little, the campsite grew, attracting a loyal clientele and giving rise to lasting friendships.

      1976 - Jhenri DEJEAN

Joe and Marguerite's son, Jhenri DEJEAN, joined the army and returned in 1976 to help his parents. With more than 8 hectares of crops, cows, chickens, and welcoming campers during the summer months, the campsite flourishes in a jovial and good-natured atmosphere.

      1978 - The 2nd Generation

In 1978, Jhenri met Agnès, who decided to abandon everything to follow him in the development of the campsite. Together, they worked tirelessly until 2013 to create a haven of peace welcoming campers from the four corners of Europe, while preserving the charm, authenticity, and family atmosphere of the place.

      1985-1988 - The Family Grows

In the 80s, the family grew with the birth of daughters, Mathilde and Lucie. Immersed in the family business, they observe their parents working with passion. This decade saw the idea of welcoming campers mature, gradually transforming camping into a tourist destination.

      2013 - The 3rd Generation

After exploring the world, Mathilde and Lucie decided in 2013 to return to work with their parents. Their return is marked by obtaining the European Ecolabel and the complete overhaul of the aquatic area, reflecting their characteristic touch of charm.

      2016 - A Family Passion

In 2016, the third generation officially took the reins of the campsite, becoming the proud guardians of this family passion. Buying the campsite from their parents, Mathilde and Lucie continue to develop Maisonneuve while respecting history and traditions, while adapting the establishment to modern expectations.

2020 - 4 Stars and Always More Comfort

The year 2020 marks the continued efforts of the DEJEAN family. Obtaining the 4th star demonstrates their commitment to satisfying customers and offering a place to live and work full of love and passion. After five years of work, the campsite has recent or renovated facilities, always guaranteeing greater comfort.

      THE MAISONNEUVE CAMPSITE TODAY

With its 60 years of history, Camping Maisonneuve embodies the authenticity of Périgord Noir. Nestled in the heart of the golden triangle, less than 15 kilometers from the main tourist sites, it represents the ideal choice for those looking for a return to their roots without sacrificing comfort.

Continually evolving, Maisonneuve seduces, surprises, and leaves each visitor with precious and lasting memories. Obtaining the 4th star in 2020 reflects the DEJEAN family's unwavering passion for providing an exceptional experience to its guests.

This is one of the nicest sites I have ever stayed at however the pitch we had is one of the worst. I would definitely come back but would pay to select a pitch. PROS: Incredible area, so close to so many places to walk to, cycle to and drive to Very close to a pretty village with an incredible bakery Beautiful swimming at the river which is accessible directly at the site. The photos, which are amazing, don't do it justice A really lovely bar, with a great restaurant A nice pool area with plenty of sunbeds, even in August Very friendly and welcoming bar and restaurant staff The atmosphere is very friendly There are many excellent pitches, including those next to the river. Happy hour in the bar between 6-7pm! CONS: Some pitches are awful and I'd say we had the worst on the site. People walked across our pitch and we had to put a bike in the way to block them. The end of our campervan awning was 30cm from the road and we didn't have any space to set up a table and chairs outside. We were situated right next to the barrier (2m), opposite the park (10m) , in front of the bar (5m) and by the toilets (15m). The pitch was obviously very noisy and sleep wasn't an option until the bar closed, some evenings this was close to 1am. This would not affect pitches other than those right by the bar. This really is a lovely site and we did book late. I would not have booked this site had I seen the pitch on a map.

We were recommended this site by a friend, and it did not disappoint in the slightest. It's a very friendly atmosphere. The pitches are spacious, the pool is lovely and heated with nice views. We wild definitely go back. Highly recommend.

Sssshh! I don't want you to know about this magical place! The location is in a beautiful tranquil valley, cloaked by wooded hillside. The river Ceou flows past the site with crystal clear water, perfect for a dip. The amenities are clean and perfectly preserved. July and August are extremely popular months, but the campsite is at its best in June.
