    • In the heart of the green and fresh Dronne valley, discover Brantôme. The village is surrounded by the river that forms an island, and at the foot of the cliff, throne the buildings of the abbey.

Built in the 11th century, the bell tower is the oldest of the Limousin Romanesque bell towers . Founded according to the legend in 769 by Charlemagne, the Benedictine abbey of Brantôme receives the relics of Saint Sicarius and becomes a very popular place of pilgrimage. Plundered by the Normans and rebuilt in the 11th century by Abbot Guillaume, it had as abbot in the 16th century Pierre de Mareuil who built new buildings, then his nephew Pierre de Bourdeille, who made other transformations before a total restoration in the 19th century... Visit the abbey church, the conventual buildings and the bell tower during guided tours.

Cross the bridge to discover the village, the Bertin quay and its old houses with balconies decorated with flowers in spring. A stroll in the village will allow you to discover and appreciate the different architectural periods of the city.
