In Périgord Vert

Of course, it is a true natural paradise that is offered to you, thanks to the Périgord Limousin Regional Natural Park (fr). More than 1800km2 of forests, rivers, wet meadows, pastures... There is even an application to download on your smartphone to easily find yourself among the 2000km of marked trails: The Mon Parc Périgord-Limousin application. From Nontron, Brantôme, or Jumilhac, the Périgord Vert is an ideal location between heritage and nature.

• Naturally Périgord, it is the Tourist Office of the region of Excideuil (fr), at the gates of the Périgord Limousin Regional Natural Park, many hikes are available to you.

In Périgord Blanc

Along the Vallée de l'Isle and in the Grand Périgueux sector, there are many hikes which are sometimes more urban, or pass through villages between two forest groves. If you stay in Périgueux, you can easily radiate around the Capital of Périgord Blanc, nature quickly catches up with the urban environment. You can also take advantage of the very pleasant greenway along the banks of the Isle, perfect for cycling or with your family, for walks in Périgord Blanc.

• The Grand Périgueux Tourist Office offers hikes around the city, but also around Vergt and other towns in this large community of municipalities.
  
  
• In Périgord Ribéracois (fr), themed hikes are offered to you, between washhouses, mill, ponds and pretty villages

In Black Périgord

It is the territory of lovers of prehistory, heritage, gastronomy, not to mention hiking. More hilly, it's a real Gruyère! There are surely more kilometers of trails than roads... It is the benchmark for sportsmen, who like mountain biking on demanding paths, while taking breaks at the splendid points of view that the rocky peaks offer on the Valley of the Vézère and the Dordogne Valley. From Hautefort, Sarlat, Les Eyzies, Montignac, La Roque-Gageac, Belvès... Hikers like to make very long loops, with culture breaks in a tourist site, or gastronomic breaks with a good invigorating picnic in full forest! With the family, it is a pleasant area because the hikes can also be brief...

• Lascaux Dordogne Vallée Vézère is the Tourist Office which covers the very rich region of Saint-Amand-de-Coly in Limeuil. The entire Vézère Valley, an inexhaustible playground for family hikes.
  
  
• Several loops are offered by the Vézère Périgord Noir Tourist Office (fr), it is an exotic territory with causses, oak forests, around Terrasson, Thenon, Tourtoirac...

You can combine hiking with wine tourism! It is a large area, with Bergerac in its center, surrounded by renowned vineyards to discover absolutely! Towards Monpazier, we switch to Lot-et-Garonnais landscapes, with chestnut forests.

• The walks are numerous on the site of the Pays de Bergerac Tourist Office, take ideas and do not forget the backpack with the picnic!

Here is a Top 10 of the hikes to do in Périgord, which was carried out in 2020, by the tourism services of the Department and the French Hiking Federation. You know that by taking one of these trails, by doing one of these loops, you are going to have a good time. There is something for everyone, click to see the routes.

• The pas de la Mignonne loop (fr) in Excideuil (7 km)
• The Roseaux and Orchids loop (fr) in Saint-Victor (4 km)

• The Bastide loop in Saint-Aulaye (fr) (3.8 or 5 km)

You are now ready to go on an adventure on the trails of Périgord! Do not forget, in all seasons, to bring adequate equipment to walk safely. In summer, a gourd (there are water points regularly indicated), a hat, sunscreen and protection against insects and wasps, will not be too much. In autumn and winter, put on a fluorescent vest, take a small knife and a bag (for mushrooms, you never know, have your findings confirmed by a connoisseur!!). In spring, think of binoculars to observe the awakening wildlife...
